When I launched They Stand Corrected, I had no idea whether it would last. In the attention economy, people are constantly clamoring to be heard, saying, “Please look at my video!” “Please like what I just posted!” There’s too much content coming at us from the moment we get up until the moment we go to sleep.
When I was at NPR and CNN, they took care of the outreach. When I went outside the Big Media system to do this corrective process — to show you how the media lies so much and fails to fact check — I knew that trying to be heard would be tough. Imagine a million people with giant, loud instruments, like drums and tubas. And then I come along with a little triangle, saying, “Hello! Here are some facts!”
The most extreme, dangerous voices are rising above the noise, getting the most attention and power. From a far right president to a far left mayor-elect of New York City. From far right, Holocaust-denying media figures to far left, pro-terror media figures. (Hello, Horseshoe Theory.)
But here at They Stand Corrected, when you subscribe, listen, read, share, support, rate, review, etc., you amplify the sound of truth. I’m grateful.
