As news breaks of Don Lemon’s arrest, Americans need the truth: facts + context. Unlike Big Media, I know that many Americans can handle the truth, wherever it leads.
People deeply entrenched in one political extreme reject some of these facts. In hopes of appealing to them, Big Media hide or bury the information. That leaves out people like you who want the full picture.
The Trump administration has used prosecutions as a political weapon, going after Trump’s enemies. Trump also pardoned violent January 6 rioters. This administration is in no position to preach about who should, or should not, be arrested.
AND what former CNN anchor Don Lemon did — joining and praising rioters who barged into a Minneapolis-St. Paul church — was not journalism. By definition, journalism has to be true; he spewed falsehoods during his live broadcast online. He definitely violated privacy, including that of children.
The legal reality
If you don’t want people barging into your religious institution, or another private place, and exposing your terrified kids to the world without your consent, then you cannot stand by what Lemon did.
It’s very likely that the rioters, and quite possibly Lemon himself, broke a federal law that progressives championed — a law that protected people inside reproductive health clinics. Yes, really.
While Lemon is trying to claim that the rioters’ actions were covered by the First Amendment, this law says the opposite. Known by the acronym FACE, it was designed to protect First Amendment rights.

Meanwhile, Lemon himself is probably loving the publicity. In today’s crazy reality, bad behavior is frequently rewarded — online and at the ballot box.
