One of the many allegorical tales attributed to Aesop is The One-Eyed Doe.
The animal grazed by the sea so it could keep its eye focused on the land, never imagining that hunters might attack by boat. You can guess what happened.
Think of that when you look at today’s news giants. Fixated on the very real threat from one side, they ignore the equally big threat from the other. The institution that should be looking out for our democracy is openly inviting its destruction. In this case, it has both eyes, but insists on keeping one closed.
Recent weeks have provided proof. Listen to the latest episode for details:
It’s been this way for years. Take Rep. Paul Gosar, Republican from Arizona. Big Media dug into his associations with far-right extremists. “He took a trip with a small group of volunteers to southern Arizona to clean up trash,” CNN reported in 2022. “Alongside him are a blogger who praised Nazi Germany, a congressional candidate who called for the execution of election officials, and a speaker removed from the 2020 RNC who shared an antisemitic conspiracy theory.”
Also, “In 2017, Gosar falsely suggested that the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally that left one person dead and dozens injured was actually a false flag operation by the left.”
It wasn’t just CNN. All the usual suspects weighed in, including the New York Times. The Associated Press named Gosar one of the far-right lawmakers “whose inflammatory comments once would have made them pariahs.”
‘Money hungry Jews,’ ‘How terrible white women are’
Meanwhile, in the nation’s largest city, the new democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani has packed his administration with far-left bigots. These aren’t people he’s picking up trash with. They’re employees he vetted and selected.
The list is too long to fit here. Many expressed “solidarity” with or even praised the people behind the October 7 massacres, the worst slaughter of Jewish people since The Holocaust. His Brooklyn Borough Director called people tearing down photos of hostages “heroes.”
In what sounds like a parody, he appointed notorious antisemite and Farrakhan idolizer Tamika Mallory to his “community safety” committee — a woman who said of BLM protesters, “I don’t give a damn if they burn down Target.”
His director of appointments, Catherine Almonte DeCosta, actually resigned after her tweets were discovered, including one slamming “money hungry Jews.” The Times couldn’t hide that development altogether, so it buried the story and used its headline to emphasize that her posts were a decade old — something it does not do for right-wing extremists. Meanwhile, Mamdani’s adviser Drashti Brahmbhatt remains on his team despite her screed about “how terrible white women are.”
None of this was exposed by Big Media. Every case came to light through dogged work by organizations that understand the far left is dangerous, too. (Props to the ADL’s Mamdani Monitor.) And still, no news giant has done a story about the pattern.
Let’s not forget Mamdani’s own statements. He rapped about his love for convicted terror funders. He showed adoration for an imam with longtime links to radical Islam. He threatened to abuse his office and carry out an unconstitutional arrest of Israel’s prime minister.
As I’ve reported, surveys find support for political violence skyrocketing, with even more support on the left. The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) says:
“Students who are the furthest to the left have been the most accepting of violence for as long as we’ve asked the question. That includes very liberal and democratic socialist students. But a rising tide of acceptance of violence has raised all boats… What was once an extreme and fringe opinion has become normalized.”
Leaders of these movements are getting positions inside government offices. Note to media: Open your left eye. Hunters have reached the shore.

After at least 10 of your articles I've determined you lean too much right and attack the Left at every chance you get. I've been an Independent all my life who voted pretty much evenly between both parties. However in the past 10 years I can't possibly vote for ANY R. Virtually ALL Rs are now sycophants for Trump. Out of fear - resign. Out of loyalty to Trump & snubbing the Constitution - get arrested now for breaking the oath you took. To get MAGA votes - Rs will lose their next election.
You promised me you were nonpartisan. I don't find that's true in the articles I've read so I'll be leaving you.
