As a NYC resident I have no doubt that antisemitism and Israel bashing propelled Mamdani supported candidates. Dan Goldman, a Jew who supports Israel's right to exist and lost in the election, was harassed at a coffee shop. Brad Lander, a Jew who supports Mamdani agenda, won in the election. There is the enemy without, an Iran supported Hezbollah and Hamas, and the enemy within, 'working/hiding' behind the feel good agenda of affordability and child care.

It remains to be seen whether this is will be a progressive agenda instead of a socialist-communist agenda. I do not like either extremes [left, right, whatever] but I also don't like branding. If voters see the pendulum swinging too extreme left, they will tell us in the midterms.
