To all the awesome subscribers who celebrate today, I want to start by sharing a moment of light. Feel the joy! This card is for you.
Even as so many people celebrate, there’s a backdrop being ignored by the media: Christians are facing year-round genocidal slaughter at the hands of Islamist terrorist groups. If there’s any day that the media should finally give this story even an ounce of the attention it deserves, it’s today.
As I explained in Episode 38, Big Media pays little to no attention to beheadings and other attacks on Christians across Africa. But the same media rushes to find a Christian person who supports a terrorist. I shared an example from NPR, my old stomping grounds.
“It’s like they’re actively trying to offend Christian people. If you’re being attacked by Islamists, we don’t care. But if we can find someone Christian who likes an Islamist terrorist, we’ll come right over and tell the world about them.”
This helps explain why some people are voting for this as the most underreported story of the year, at the Media Fail Awards.

Feeling joy while recognizing reality is a superpower. I’m wishing that superpower for all the good Christians worldwide who are standing up to, and surviving, this scourge. And wishes for a year ahead in which the media finally wakes up to the truth.
