He just wanted to teach students, to help them become ethical business leaders of the future. His research covered topics like “economic inequality and social progress.”
Then, Professor Shai Davidai watched as Columbia University erupted into a hotbed of violent pro-terror radicalism after the October 7 massacres. As ethical, sane students standing for democracy were punched in the face. As radical professors joined mobs in violating campus rules and getting away with it.
So he used social media to report what was happening. The media responded by attacking, misquoting and misrepresenting him. In the new episode of They Stand Corrected, I speak with Shai about the lessons he learned, how to handle the media, and his upcoming book American Intellectual Antisemitism.
He divulges what no one knows about what really happened.
It should be astounding. Campus radicals harassed Jewish students and paid no real price; when Shai called them out, they accused him of harassment. No investigation concluded that this “harassment” took place. But you wouldn’t know that from the news.
The AP broke the most basic rules of journalism to portray accusation as fact in a headline: “Pro-Israel professor at Columbia barred from campus after harassing and intimidating other employees.” Note the lack of “accused,” “alleged,” or any response. (I covered this in Episode 29.)
