These days, it’s hard for any story to go truly viral. But a Boston Globe story about a lesbian bar achieved it, breaking records for the paper. It’s a literal laugh-out-loud study in what’s happening to America’s crazed no-longer-all-that-far left.
I’ll explain how to access it below, but first a summary: The Last Ditch bar in Greenfield, Mass., still has a medical mask mandate because of Covid-19, even though there are no reported cases in town. The bar allows everyone in regardless of ability to pay, including unhoused people, but no police. Astoundingly, it’s losing money. In hopes of drumming up business, the owners announced: “It is with love we inform our immunocompromised disabled divas we will be opening Saturday nights as mask optional.”
That set off hysteria. Their followers responded that they’re “complicit in a mass disabling event,” “people like you kill disabled people in the name of your own leisure and convenience,” and “I hope your venue gets firebombed for robbing my fellow immunocompromised people of their Saturday plans just to scrape extra revenue from ablists [sic].”
That’s only the beginning. The bar rushed to apologize “for our passive and dismissive tone of our change to the norms and schedule impacting the most intersectional of us. We understand everyone faces different intersections.” They were then attacked for failing to provide a version of that statement for visually impaired people, which apparently “indicates the lack of care or interest in Disability intersectionality.”
Somehow it got even worse from there. This whole, super important event necessitated a Zoom meeting, which was flooded “with irate messages,” all of which were read out loud. “I’m hearing a WHITE therapist... center the feelings of a majority white and white adjacent staff,” one participant wrote. When invited to the next meeting as well, the person called the invitation racist.
Then came something about a founder’s “WHITE THEY THEM TEARS” and the bar not being “a safe environment nor interested in revolutionary praxis,” which is such an obscure word that Google underlined it in red when I entered it into this newsletter. Someone else feared the mediator might have the power to hospitalize meeting participants against their will.
No, this story is not a belated April Fool’s joke. No one’s denying that all this really happened. In perhaps the most 2026 line of all, the lone patron after midnight suggested a Lady Gaga-themed night, but was immediately shut down because “Gaga is canceled” for being “Zionist.” The “Born This Way” icon isn’t antisemitic enough.

The whole train wreck of a story is worth reading. But the Globe, ironically, has such a bad track record of spreading left-wing lies that I wouldn’t want you to pay to enter its ecosystem, even for the current, barely-there fee. So use the free, legal way to access the story here, or check out an archived version.
The big story here, and the reason this went viral, is unspoken. Every hate movement turns on itself. People clamor and fight until there’s nothing left. The hate movement that has overtaken the left is especially vulnerable to self-destruction because it’s based on competitive victimhood. This story shows it experiencing a downfall in real time.
Communists Claim ‘Genocide’
But wait — there’s more! The Western Massachusetts Communist Party weighed in with a statement that shows how detached these folks are from the real world. The organization said the “Trump administration and Republican state governments have instigated a genocide of LGBTQIA+ people.”
There it is. In 2026, anything can now be a “genocide.” Never mind that “a record-high 12% of U.S. adults – roughly 25.6 million people –- identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or gender diverse,” the Human Rights Campaign announced last month. Or that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is the highest-ranking openly LGBTQ+ official in U.S. history.
In their desire to tar-and-feather the tiny Jewish state, left-wing activists have given up on words having actual meanings. That then opens the opportunity to use those words however they want. Yet another reason it’s crucial to fight the genoLIE.
The Communist group also accused the Globe of “courting the outrage of the national extreme right,” which makes no sense given the Globe’s clear left-wing stance.
This is the mental world today’s left-wing activists inhabit. Everything about this seems normal to them. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration is filled with avowed Communists who think this way. And the media virtually always coddles them.
How did this happen? On the next episode of They Stand Corrected, I’m joined by a young activist who spent time in a Communist group, and then saw it for what it really was.
In the meantime, catch up on episodes wherever you listen.
